US Halts Green Card Program for Tech Firms
The United States government has suspended eight technology companies, including Microsoft and Capgemini, from the PERM labor certification program for green card sponsorships due to alleged fraudulent activities. Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling and Labor Inspector General Anthony D’Esposito announced these measures at a White House briefing, which affect new applications but do not revoke existing approvals or alter current visa statuses. Additionally, nine universities are under investigation for their international student recruitment practices.
