The vendor consolidation trap: When one throat to choke costs more than it saves
Reducing the number of technology vendors can simplify operations and create short-term savings, but it can also destroy negotiating leverage once switching becomes expensive. IT teams should keep at least one credible alternative warm in major categories so vendors know the customer can realistically walk away at renewal.
