Postgres outages are frequently caused by issues like vacuum processes, transaction ID wraparound, connection limits, and poor query plans, especially in environments without dedicated database experts. A new project, pgrust, aims to mitigate these problems with architectural enhancements, including 64-bit transaction IDs, a threaded model, an adaptive query planner, and improved JSON data handling.
