SQLite 3.54 Optimizes JSON Index Updates
The latest SQLite version, 3.54, now avoids rewriting expression indexes if the indexed field's value has not changed during an update. This optimization significantly reduces WAL page writes and speeds up single-row updates for tables using JSON expression or virtual generated column indexes, according to benchmarks. Indexes on standard columns or stored generated columns are not affected and will still be rewritten with every update.
