SpaceXAI quietly builds what may be the nation's largest grid battery at its Memphis site
Satellite imagery from July shows 720 Tesla Megapacks installed at SpaceXAI's Colossus 2 data center in Memphis, equating to roughly 2.8 gigawatt-hours and 720-1,400 megawatts depending on the exact model, with company and utility executives separately describing the completed system as 3.3 GWh or 2,000 MW of instant discharge, either of which would top the current largest US grid battery at California's Edwards & Sanborn plant.
