PS2 games run in browser via static recompilation with ps2-web-recomp
The ps2-web-recomp project enables PlayStation 2 games to run directly in web browsers through static recompilation. This open-source system translates the PS2's machine code into C++ and compiles it to WebAssembly, eliminating the need for emulation. Utilizing Gran Turismo 4 and God of War II as demonstrations, the project achieves full-speed performance on integrated laptop GPUs by employing high-level emulation of the PS2 kernel, WebGPU compute shaders for graphics, and ahead-of-time SIMD compilation for vector processing.
