Platform engineering's new job: serving environments at agent speed
As coding agents become the most demanding tenants of platform environments, platform engineering needs to shift from provisioning environments on demand to serving them like a low-latency, high-concurrency system. Both full-copy and shared-single-environment approaches fail under agent traffic patterns, and a delta-based “serve the changed services” architecture routed per request can reduce latency and cost while preserving isolation.
