Path to Astra: Critical Capabilities and Frontier Safeguards
OpenAI has designated Astra as "Critical" due to its cybersecurity capabilities. Tests revealed its ability to find zero-days, browser sandbox escapes, and root privilege-escalation chains. Following the Hugging Face incident, OpenAI postponed its release work. Astra demonstrated superior resistance to cyber-jailbreak requests, refusing 91.5% compared to GPT-5.6 Sol's 59%. Advanced cyber access will initially be granted to selected testers, followed by Daybreak Blue.
