Microsoft launches Maia 300 AI accelerator with four chiplets
Microsoft has revealed its latest custom AI inference chip, the Maia 300. This accelerator incorporates four computing chiplets manufactured using TSMC's two-nanometer process. Microsoft projects that the Maia 300 will offer a 40% improvement in token processing efficiency per megawatt compared to current leading GPU solutions, with deployment scheduled for next year. The chip features a dataflow architecture to minimize data movement and is complemented by additional chiplets and a specialized Ethernet network.
