Microsoft introduces new Maia 300 AI chip
Microsoft has revealed its third-generation AI processor, the Maia 300, designed to efficiently run the latest reasoning AI models and agents at reduced operational costs. Scott Guthrie, a Microsoft executive, stated that the chip is projected to process 40% more tokens per megawatt than leading GPU-based systems. Microsoft intends to deploy the Maia 300 following the new year and plans to scale up to multi-gigawatt deployments beginning in 2027.
