Meta and Sierra Technologies Lead Initiative for AI Agent Commerce Standards
Meta Platforms, in collaboration with Walmart, Stripe, and Sierra Technologies, is introducing the Personal Agent Protocol, a new open standard for AI agent commerce. Co-founded by Bret Taylor of Sierra Technologies, this protocol aims to provide businesses with mechanisms for visibility, authentication, and transparency concerning AI agents conducting online transactions. This effort addresses growing concerns within the industry and banking sectors about the security, privacy, and safety of agentic commerce, particularly in light of new applications like Meta's Muse agent.
