When comparing CLIs vs MCPs for coding agents, MCPs are better for enterprise and organizational adoption. MCP over streamable HTTP provides advantages such as centralization, robust security, comprehensive telemetry, and standardized, dynamic delivery of tools, prompts, and resources. For well-known tools, CLIs do provide more token savings.
