Japan OKs TSMC's 3nm chip production at second Kumamoto facility

Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has approved TSMC's updated plan to produce 3-nanometer logic chips at its new fabrication plant in Kumamoto Prefecture. This advanced 3nm process will be manufactured at the second facility in Kyushu, replacing the previously approved 6nm and 12nm production slated for that site. The approval came on October 16.
