Huawei gains on Nvidia in China's AI chip market amid restrictions
An IDC report indicates that Nvidia's portion of China's AI chip market for data centers decreased to 34% in the first half of 2026, with shipments declining 44% from the previous year due to US export controls. Meanwhile, Chinese competitor Huawei saw its shipments reach 572,000 units, securing a 28% market share. The total volume of non-GPU AI accelerators shipped in China increased by almost 80%, surpassing the volume of GPUs.
