GitHub Overhauls Git Storage Amidst AI Agent Surge
GitHub is undertaking a complete reconstruction of its Git storage infrastructure to manage the amplified traffic from AI agents. This development has led to a doubling of user traffic and a substantial rise in commits. The new design replaces the current Spokes system, separating write and read operations and utilizing Azure Blob Storage to resolve write performance issues, resulting in an internal 35-fold increase in write speed. Other companies like Entire and Cursor are also re-evaluating their Git storage solutions to cope with the growing requirements of automated coding tools.
