An individual created a website with 50,000 fake statistics, generated by GPT-4.1, to examine how AI search engines would interact with the data. Despite Google quickly removing the site, retrieval bots like ChatGPT continued to access the pages extensively. This led to over 10,000 AI interactions, numerous referring domains, and the content being cited in academic and financial research.
