DuckDB 2.0 preview benchmarks on Iceberg data
LakehouseBox has released performance data for the DuckDB 2.0 preview, comparing it to version 1.5.6 on Apache Iceberg datasets. Testing revealed that DuckDB 2.0's new features, including asynchronous I/O and parallel remote reads, resulted in a 1.69x speedup for cold query suites within the same data center. However, the researchers observed that performance could degrade over slower internet connections or during repeated warm runs due to increased requests and a regression in spatial filtering.
