Databricks Acquires Electric for WASM Postgres in AI Agent Sandboxes
Databricks is acquiring Electric to integrate PGlite, a lightweight WebAssembly (WASM) version of Postgres, into AI agent sandboxes. This will provide agents with fast local databases while synchronizing shared state back to Lakebase. The initiative aims to enable distributed agents to operate independently with low latency, all while maintaining a centralized and governed source of truth within Lakebase.
