Counterfeit TLS certificates for Google and others were created by hackers
Hackers compromised three country-code top-level domains, altering DNS records to generate fake TLS certificates for prominent services like Google. Google has since updated its Chrome browser to reject the fraudulent certificates and coordinated with other certificate authorities to implement similar safeguards. The company advised domain owners to review TLS transparency logs for any unauthorized certificate issuances.
