Codex Hacked a Samsung TV
Researchers demonstrated how OpenAI Codex successfully hacked a Samsung TV. By providing Codex with a shell within the TV's browser process, KantS2 firmware source, and a controlled toolchain, it audited exposed Novatek ntk* kernel drivers. Codex then exploited `/dev/ntksys` as a physical memory mapping primitive, validated via `/dev/ntkhdma`, reconstructed RAM ranges from boot arguments, and subsequently located and patched credential structures in physical memory, thereby elevating the browser context to a root shell on the live television.
