Claude Code Is Way More Token-Hungry Than OpenCode. We Measured Exactly How Much
Research indicates that Claude Code consumes significantly more tokens and exhibits lower cache efficiency compared to OpenCode for identical tasks. Although both AI systems generate correct outputs, Claude Code sends 33,000 tokens before processing a prompt, whereas OpenCode sends only 7,000, highlighting a notable difference in token overhead.
