China proposes export restrictions on AI, biotech, solar tech
China's Ministry of Commerce and Ministry of Science and Technology have put forward changes to the nation's Catalogue of Technologies Prohibited or Restricted from Export. These proposed revisions would add 40 technologies spanning artificial intelligence, biomedicine, and photovoltaics. In parallel, the government has implemented an immediate requirement for pre-export registration for these technologies, managed through the Technology Trade Management Information System. The public has until November 15, 2026, to submit comments on the suggested catalog updates.
