China proposes export restrictions on advanced solar, AI, and biotech
China has drafted new regulations that would limit the export of over 40 advanced technologies, including next-generation solar production, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology. The proposed measures include a complete ban on exporting 14 specific technologies, such as certain cell and gene therapy platforms and AI capable of generating harmful code. An additional 26 technologies, like particular polysilicon manufacturing lines, would face export limitations under the joint proposal from the Ministry of Commerce and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
