Can We Measure Software Slop? An Experiment
Software slop is code that hasn't received enough human review or verification. It can be estimated by comparing the attention required (based on code size/complexity) to the attention actually given (via commits, comments, etc.). An experimental “Slop-O-Meter” attempts to quantify this, but results are inconsistent due to differences in development workflows, making the approach promising but not yet reliable.
