AWS leaps into agentic payments
Amazon Web Services is building infrastructure that allows AI agents to execute payments and transactions on behalf of users, aiming to remove the final friction in automated commerce. The cloud giant is working with Visa to create network-agnostic payment workflows so developers can build AI-driven shopping agents that operate securely across existing payment rails. If successful, the effort could enable a new model of “agentic commerce,” where AI assistants handle purchasing decisions and payments automatically, backed by large-scale cloud infrastructure and fraud detection systems.
