AWS Glue 6.0 now available with 30% lower price and full Apache Iceberg v3 support
AWS Glue 6.0 is now generally available in all operational AWS regions, featuring a 30% price reduction compared to previous versions. This release is built on Apache Spark 4.1, Python 3.13, and Scala 2.13, offering complete support for the Apache Iceberg v3 specification via Iceberg 1.11.0. A new VARIANT data type, with shredding support, enables teams to store and query JSON, logs, and event data without schema flattening. No API changes are necessary to utilize this new version.
