An official says the DOD has stopped using Anthropic's tools; sources: Claude was in use as recently as last week, including in military operations against Iran
The US Department of Defence has ceased using Anthropic's AI tools following a national security designation by Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth in February. However, sources report that Claude was still being used in research, intelligence gathering, and military operations against Iran as recently as the previous week, integrated via Palantir's Maven Smart System. Anthropic's clash with the Pentagon arose after the company refused to remove its safety guardrails, though CEO Dario Amodei has recently held meetings at the White House with President Trump.
