ai16z Token Dead, Foundation Winds Down
Shaw, creator of the Eliza agent framework and ai16z, announced the foundation is winding down after a Burwick class action settlement consumed all remaining treasury funds and his personal savings, which he described as a forced outcome since the project could not afford to litigate. Shaw told token holders the position is "completely ngmi," with no buybacks, no foundation supply, and no further support forthcoming. Shaw said he never sold his ai16z tokens and drew only an engineer-level salary throughout the project's run, but the settlement cost ended the foundation regardless. Eliza OS development continues on Shaw's personal savings as an independent effort, and he committed to never attaching a token to the Eliza brand again, a notable exit for what was one of Solana's highest-profile AI agent tokens during the 2024-2025 cycle.
