AI Tools Aid Suspected Attacker in South Korean Bank Breaches
A single individual is believed to have exploited AI-enhanced hacking tools to infiltrate several South Korean financial institutions between late September and early October 2026, according to Crowdstrike. The newspaper Khan reported that Shinhan Bank alone experienced the theft of over 25,000 records. The perpetrator utilized ARTEX, an open-source penetration testing utility from China that incorporates AI language models.
