AI Agents Should Execute Code, Not Simulate It
The author proposes that AI agents should leverage actual code instead of having neural networks imitate programming structures like loops and variables. A new system, ABCAgent, exemplifies this by having a neural model generate and modify Python code, which is then executed by a symbolic executor. Tests on six benchmarks reveal that ABCAgent delivers strong accuracy and notable improvements in token and speed efficiency by enabling code reuse and parameter reassignment.
