Advanced AI Models Suffer from Context Inertia Issues
Researchers have identified a problem called Context Inertia in advanced AI models operating over extended periods, where the AI becomes stuck on an incorrect assumption or task despite new information. Methods like Memento, Fork-and-Flush, and Stateless Language Agents (SLAs) have shown this inertia persists even when context is compressed. Solutions proposed include intermittently clearing chat history while retaining system status or implementing workflow safeguards to prevent AI loops.
